Analyze Your Text Conversation

1. Go to Facebook Settings > "Download your information"
2. Select "Messages" only

WeChat has no conversation export: use screenshots instead.

2. Take screenshots, scrolling from the oldest message to the most recent
3. Make sure bubbles on BOTH sides are visible (green on the right, white on the left)

iMessage has no built-in conversation export. The method depends on your device.

1. On iPhone: open the conversation and take screenshots, scrolling back through the history.
2. Drop your screenshots here, in order. You can add several for a long conversation.
3. On Mac: open Messages, select the messages you want, then press Cmd+C.
4. Paste them into a text file (.txt), then drop that file here.

Good to know: copying from a Mac usually leaves out the dates and times of the messages. For a more precise chronological analysis, prefer screenshots.

On Android, an export app produces a text file. On iPhone, use screenshots instead.

1. Install an SMS export app (for example SMS Backup & Restore).
2. Pick the conversation, then export it as text.
3. Drop the resulting file here.

KakaoTalk exports a real text file, with a header we recognize.

1. Open the conversation, then the menu (☰).
2. Choose “Export messages” and the text format.

LINE exports the chat history as a text file prefixed “[LINE]”.

To bring a Zalo conversation into ScanMyLove, select and copy the messages into a text file (.txt), or use screenshots.

On a computer: depending on your version of Zalo, backup or export options may also be available.

To bring a Viber conversation into ScanMyLove, select and copy the messages into a text file (.txt), or use screenshots.

If your version of Viber offers a backup or a way to share the history, you can also use the resulting file, provided it is in a format ScanMyLove accepts.

Works with iMessage, Snapchat, Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Signal, Discord and all other applications. This is the route to use whenever your app offers no text export — on iPhone, that includes iMessage and SMS.

If your conversation is already in a PDF (a printout, an export from an app) or pasted into a Word document, drop it as it is — there is nothing to redo by hand.

3. One PDF at a time: one PDF = one conversation.

A PDF is read up to 40 pages (200 MB maximum). Beyond that, the remaining pages are not analyzed: split the document, or drop screenshots of the important parts.
