How ScanMyLove Works: A Guided Tour of the Tool
💬 Analyse your conversations — Are you going through this situation? Upload your WhatsApp messages for an objective, confidential psychological analysis of your relationship.
You're about to import a conversation that matters to you — months, sometimes years, of exchanges with your partner. Before you do, it's fair to know exactly what will happen: which file format to use, what the tool looks at, what it keeps, what it doesn't, and how much it actually costs.
In the article that follows, I explore how to read your partner's messages. I also want you to know about ScanMyLove, a tool that analyses your conversations with your partner from a simple export of your exchanges. The results help you understand the interaction and the patterns at play in your relationship.
Step by step: what actually happens
1. You choose your file
ScanMyLove reads native exports from WhatsApp (.txt), Telegram (.json), Messenger and Instagram (.json), exported SMS (.csv, .xml), as well as screenshots from any messaging app — iMessage, Snapchat, Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Signal, Discord. For screenshots, optical character recognition (OCR) automatically transcribes the visible text.
You can mix several formats at once: for example, a complete WhatsApp text export supplemented by a few screenshots of the most recent exchanges not yet exported.
See the detailed export guide by app2. The file is analyzed — not stored
Parsing the file (identifying the participants, timestamping, structuring) happens directly on your device, before anything is sent. Nothing is saved to a database at this stage.
3. The dashboard displays — for free
Within seconds, without paying anything, you get: total message count, the exchange ratio between the two people, a heatmap (who writes, at what time of day and week), the most frequent words and emojis, each person's average response time. That's already enough, at this stage, to form an objective first impression of the dynamic.
4. You choose (or not) a paid report
Two plans, no subscription, no commitment:
| Essential | Complete | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | €1.99 | €3.99 |
| Sections | 8 (attachment, Gottman's four horsemen, positive-negative ratio, cognitive distortions, power dynamics, emotional reactivity, prognosis, recommendations) | Essential + Young's schemas, personalized action plan |
| Chat included | 10 messages | 30 messages |
| Yes | Yes |
Upgrading from Essential to Complete costs a €2.00 difference — no need to buy the full report again if you want to go deeper afterward.

The report applies the 14 clinical psychology grids to your conversation (full detail on the methodology page) and produces a structured text, illustrated with quotes drawn from your own messages to support each point — no interchangeable generalities from one couple to the next.
6. You can chat with your report
Once generated, a contextual chat remains available: you can ask for clarification ("why this attachment score?"), dig into a point ("what do you mean by defensiveness here, concretely?"), or ask for advice tailored to your exact situation.
Privacy questions, straight answers
Is my conversation kept? No. The imported file is processed to produce the report, then deleted. No database retains the content of your messages over time. Do I need to create an account? No. No sign-up is needed for the free dashboard. For a paid report, only an email is requested, solely for payment via Stripe and to send the download link. Who has access to my messages? No one but you. There's no data resale, no advertising tracking cookie, no sharing with third parties. Does the report stay accessible indefinitely? No, access is temporary — download the PDF if you want to keep it. Does my partner need to know? ScanMyLove analyzes a file that you yourself export and import, for your own understanding. The tool doesn't notify anyone and doesn't connect to any messaging account. What the report doesn't do
A ScanMyLove report is not a medical diagnosis, does not replace couples therapy, and cannot read tone of voice or context behind a message sent in the moment. A curt message can have a mundane explanation (fatigue, work, bad connection) that text alone can't reveal. It's a tool for perspective, not a verdict.
If you're experiencing domestic violence, the report can help objectify facts, but it doesn't replace support: in France, 3919 (Violences Femmes Info), 3114 (suicide prevention), 114 by text in case of immediate danger. Outside France, contact your local emergency services.
Ready to try?
ScanMyLove is a psychological analysis tool, not a substitute for therapy.
